Hello, my name is Trouble

I swear, I had nothing to do with this. All I did was take the pic at the risk of looking like the worst mom in the world. Imagine my suprise when I walked into our hall bath to find Carter sitting in the sink with a plastic pepper in his mouth and hairbrush in hand. I'm telling you, the boy is a miniature ninja. Give him an unsupervised moment and he will figure out how to do the impossible. The best I can figure is that he climbed up the toilet and then crawled across the counter to the sink. What's a momma to do? I can't seem to stop him, so I'll just document it I suppose!

Our Newest Contraption

I was so excited that I successfully got all the items off to consignment that I was ready to part with- and then I spotted this. I debated about putting the eyesore in the backyard since I have picked out all parent friendly toys for the yard, but I had been looking for one of these for a year now and couldn't walk away from the deal. Of course, the kids love it!

Captain Danger

He just never stops!

SO Sleepy

Carter decided he did not need his morning nap on this day. This is him "eating" his lunch just a few hours later.

So Silly

Ah, the sense of humor of two year olds. It makes it all worthwhile.

The Great Pumpkins

Daddy lends a helping hand
"Ewww!" she says
Carter eats his pumpkin top
Later, when he thinks no one is looking....
Today I decided to let the kids scoop out their baby pumpkins we got from Murray Family Farms awhile back, before we went out and bought big pumpkins. I figured they would either love it or hate it so I didn't want to have to scoop out big pumpkins by myself if they weren't interested in it. So glad we tried with the little ones first- they couldn't have cared less. Abbie started out excited until she felt the inside of the pumpkin and then wanted nothing to do with it. Carter couldn't be pulled away from the sandbox. Later that night while I was grilling dinner, Carter wandered over and started scooping out the pumpkin with a spoon and eating seeds just like a pro. Of course, he threw up pumpkin seeds later but it was cute while it lasted.

Goodbye to the Baby Days

I have been busy for the past few weeks gathering up clothes that have been outgrown and baby contraptions that just take up space now that the kids are bigger so I can clear out the clutter around here. This morning, I was working on baby gear and the kids were more excited about these contraptions as toddlers than they were as babies. Carter never liked any of the stationary entertainers- he just wanted to move around by himself. Abigail would have lived in the jumperoo if we would have let her and she spent way more time in Carter's bouncer than he ever did.

Leaf Fight

Carter is over it and ready to let me know all about it.
Running so fast!
Watching the leaves "rain" down from the trees
Running from Mommy's bunch of leaves
Getting me back
Getting me back again!

Central Park

Since apple picking went by quickly, we headed to Central Park in Tehachapi to let the kids run around. My challenge is finding places that it is safe and acceptable for the kids to be free without having to be on top of them the whole time. I did however decide that I should organize a Mommy Olympics game for all of us moms. I decided this while using a Port-A- Potty while holding a 1 year old, trying to keep a 2 year old from touching anything, and rebuckling my belt. We all survived.

Apple Picking

The kids and I were feeling bored (ok, I was bored- the kids were fine) so I decided to take them to Tehachapi to go apple picking. I was afraid that we were going to end up having to buy 30 lbs of apples because of Abbie's love of gathering objects, but neither kid was all that interested. Abbie chased around a feral cat and Carter ate shriveled up apples from the dirt. We left with our little 1 lb bag of apples before the kids had a chance to go into meltdown mode, because if that happened at this point in the week with me by myself, I just might leave them to be helping hands (or at least mascots) for the apple farm.

Monkey Wrestling

I was just trying to get a nice picture of the two of them in their new monkey jammies, and instead, I got monkey wrestling.

Busted

The cat food bandit caught red handed!

New Shoes

I had to go to Target and buy Abbie a whole new set of shoes just weeks after buying her an entire set of winter shoes just 3 weeks ago. Her feet grew a whole size & a half in that time! I hated going and buying the same shoes that were practically new in her closet but I guess that is part of having a growing 2 year old! Of course, Carter took a liking to the pink sparkly ones.
