Carter learned to climb up (and then tumble down) the tunnel at our park. As you can see, he was quite excited and proud. Yet another way to cause serious bodily harm. Way to go Carter!

My Abigail
It is a rare occasion that Abigail will stand still and pose for a picture. Today was a lucky day for me and she did so without even a little resistance. It was suprisingly chilly this morning so I had to dig around to find something warm enough for her to wear and was excited to find this little jacket that she only wore once during winter. Who would think that I would be searching for a jacket on Memorial Day weekend! She is starting to look like a big girl, not a baby!

Happy 50th Birthday
On Saturday we celebrated twins Dean & David Barthelmes' 50th birthday and had a blast. We had a super tasty dinner and had an opportunity to visit with tons of family and friends. Carter loved being carried around by anyone and everyone and Abigail liked playing with the other kids and begging people for food once she warmed up to everyone. The weather was a bit crazy, but that is part of the fun of an early Bakersfield summer. What a great party!

Our Little Pool
I bought the kids a little splash pool for the summer (yes, it's the same one as last year) and did my best to convince the kids that it was fun, even though they weren't too sure. Carter got halfway in and then stopped as if he was stuck. Abigail just kept trying to take of her swimsuit everytime she got even a tiny bit wet. Eventually Carter sat in it and splashed and Abbie drank water in the most unladylike way possible. I think I ended up wetter than either of them did on this day!

Birthday Party Fun
The kids and I went to the Congdon's house for a double birthday party (4 & 2 already!) and we all had a great time. They rented a HUGE waterslide for the older kids and the little ones played in a kiddie pool and on the swingset. It is so great to not only have such a dear friend from elementary, middle & high school still be in my life but to have sets of kids that are no only the same age, but same gender too! Watching them grow and play together is so much fun. I hope they will be as good of friends as Jenny and I have been. Of course, Jaden will always be special to me in his own way- I was lucky enough to see him the day he was born and hope to never forget that day. Happy birthdays little ones!

Happy Birthday DJ
DJ's 29th birthday was on Wednesday and he chose to spend the morning with the kids at Fruitvale Norris Park. We had a great time playing with the kids- I am sure they enjoyed it too! It's not too often all four of us get to go out and relax and play together. His parents were nice enough to come over and take on our evening routine with the kids so DJ and I could go out and enjoy a childfree dinner together at Famous Daves. Happy 29th!

Little Miss Marker
One of Abigail's favorite things are markers. Unfortunately, she also likes to pretend that she is putting on makeup with her markers and then runs to a mirror to admire her good work. Thank goodness for washable markers!

New Toy
Since Abigail LOVES slides and climbing so much, we bought her a new climber/slide combo. I searched everywhere and managed to find one that even has a little door that she can open and close (another tried and true favorite). Carter likes to live up to his role as the pesky little brother and tries to climb up the slide as Abbie waits patiently (kind of) for him to move. Of course, they had just as much fun, if not more, playing inside of the box!

A Day at the Park
On Tuesday, I took the kids to visit my mom, who is recovering from yet another foot surgery, and then to Fruitvale Norris park. Abigail is park crazy and Carter likes to think he is big and plays too. If you look at the blue and yellow tunnel leading up to the huge slide you can see little Miss Abigail climbing her happy way up there. Luckily she only wanted to climb up and down and didn't go down the big swirly slide on her own! We will be going back soon- what a great park!
